Seeing as we’ve been pretty absent over the past month, it’s fair to say this past week has been a pretty exciting one. Not only did it see the physical release of our second single, Melodica, Melody & Me’s ‘Piece Me Back Together’, and the posting of our ‘from us to you’ mixtape, we also tried the MilkyBar with biscuit and raisin. All were rather fun experiences apart from the latter, which simply tasted horrible. Raisin and white chocolate? What were they thinking? If this doesn’t send the confectionery industry into disrepute I don’t know what will. Bring back Pretzel Flipz, I say!
So after a rather hectic tour with Bombay Bicycle Club, Melodica have been away travelling the world and resting up before they head back out on the road this October. ‘Piece Me Back Together’ hit the shops this week and for anyone who hasn’t already had chance to buy it is available from the lovely friends at Rough Trade, Puregroove, and Resident, as well in our shop – where you can also get your hands on one of the limited edition T-Shirts and screenprint posters that accompanied the release.
We were also very excited to post our first mixtape this week. But that’s not all. It’s a collection of songs we’re really pleased to have on there, and would just like to thank all of the bands and artists for agreeing to be on there. Throughout the coming weeks you will be seeing a limited number of cassette copies gracing the counters of shops, bars and cafes near you! If your extra lucky you just land one of the 20 reel to reel cassette version. They look very fancy indeed so keep your eyes peeled. It’s a collection of songs we’re really pleased to have on there, and would just like to thank all of the bands and artists for agreeing to be on there.
Full details of the mixtape can be found here.
That’s all for now.
it might have taken us twice as long as we said it would to put together, but we’ve finally put the finishing touches to our first mixtape ‘from us to you’. It’s probably pushing it calling it a mixtape, maybe more a collection of songs we’ve put together to share with you, like a teenage boy desperately trying to impress his other half….
We’ve pressed up 100 limited cassette version that you be able to find lingering around from next monday….

It may have been a while but the wait is now over to hear new music from Liverpool’s Sun Drums. The band posted Dry Chalk Bone – a haunting little number with nods towards Grizzly Bear/Animal Collective/Bon Iver up on their site yesterday.
Things have been a little quiet since the 2007 release of ‘Chapter One’ from The British Expeditionary Force (on Erased Tapes), but is this really just the calm before the storm? After a couple of glimpses of what the fourthcoming ‘Chapter Two & Three’ has to offer we’re pretty sure it is. An all round a more ambitious record than the first, it definitely seems worth the wait.
Combing the beauty of Eno’s ambient works with classic songwriting, they’re ready to take their place next to Elbow and Doves as one of today’s great British bands. It might not be the most obvious place to start with this band but stop what you’re doing for 3 minutes 26 seconds and just enjoy…
back at the start of the year we downloaded a collection of songs from fellow Mancunians Weird Era. We listened, we liked, we listened, we liked, and then recently some four months later something amazing happened…. Their track ‘Summer Heights’ appeared randomly on my iPod…
With references from Sonic Youth to Jesus And Mary Chain to My Bloody Valentine their dark pop definitely tickles our fancy, and we’re pleased to have them as an addition to our July mixtape! So have a listen for yourselves…
and if you’re liking this then you can download lots of songs from here and here….
Just a quick little post to let you in on a little secret… Here is Melodica, Melody & Me’s ‘Hold On’, a track little exclusive B Side from the single that will only be available digitally!… ‘Plunge’ will be the lovely B Side on the 7″! Let us know what you think…
So we’ve had a little idea…. We’re putting together a little mixtape of songs by bands we’re liking at the minute. The ‘mix’ will be available to download for free from our souncloud page, and we’re also making up 100 limited cassettes that we’ll be leaving in random locations (well record shops) around the country for your good selves to help yourself to.
We’re looking to get this out in July and already have a few exciting people lined up… Slow Motion Shoes, Safe House, LESANDS, Bagheera, Weird Era, Council Alaska and many more….
We’ll keep you posted..
